Prevention services provide education to youth and adolescents as well as the general community, about the misuse and abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. The goal of this service is to prevent abuse and addiction through education.
The Centre County Youth Service Bureau is the primary prevention provider for Centre County, responsible for the majority of goals and objectives in the County’s prevention plan.
Drug and Alcohol also supports the work of the Centre County Communities that Care coalition. This initiative supports efforts to enhance substance use and abuse prevention initiatives in Centre County. The Pennsylvania Youth Survey helps to define those conditions within the community that put youth at risk and those conditions that protect young people. Activities and programs are then identified to reduce risk factors and improve protective factors.
