Stepping Up Summit is a national initiative to reduce the number of individuals with mental illnesses in jails. Stepping Up asks counties across the country to come together to develop localized action plans that can be used to achieve measurable impact in their local criminal justice systems. On July 2, 2019, the Centre County Board of Commissioners signed a resolution in support of the Stepping Up Initiative and a work group has been formed to look at what can be done in Centre County.
