Local agricultural land owners are encouraged to apply for the opportunity to preserve their farm through the Centre County PACE Program. The PACE Program is a statewide program that assists in funding the purchase of development rights from agricultural land owners who wish to preserve their farms with an Agricultural Conservation Easement. Applicant properties are ranked using the County’s Land Evaluation Site Assessment (LESA) Software, which scores properties based on soil quality, development potential, historic and scenic value, and other factors. Properties that rank highest on the list are selected for preservation. The application period is currently open until January 1, 2015, and there is no cost to apply. Interested individuals can request more information and an application by contacting Sarah R. Walter at 814-355-6791.
