This 3-hour presentation will provide "Active Shooter: Preparation and Response" information based on Department of Homeland Security (DHS) best practices tailored for Houses of Worship or other open venues. It will discuss the personalities that perpetrate these attacks to potentially identify and curtail them, individual and organizational preparation, response, recovery, and other reference resources. Besides a DHS presenter, members of local law enforcement will also describe the law enforcement response to these and other types of serious events. Members of local law enforcement will provide ideas on how to assemble an Emergency Response committee for your organization. In addition, local law enforcement will also supply information on conducting a security site assessment, which can identify areas of vulnerability and potential risks for your facility.
All participants interested in attending this training are required to register no later than one week prior to the class. Training registration is limited to 60 participants (maximum); therefore, early registration is recommended.
