Centre County Commissioners announced that construction of a solar photovoltaic array is underway at the Correctional Facility located on Rishel Hill Road in Bellefonte.
The $1.67 million project is part of a larger Countywide energy savings initiative, started by the Commissioners in 2018, to be completed under the Guaranteed Energy Savings Act. The new solar array is capable of producing 1.20 MWdc of electricity annually and is expected to offset 100 percent of the Correctional Facility’s electrical demand.
