[ARCHIVED] Accepting Applications for 2013 PACE Program

Agricultural land owners are encouraged to apply for the opportunity to preserve their farm through the PACE Program. 2013 Application Period: MARCH 18 – MAY 15, 2013.

On March 18, 2013, the Centre County Agricultural Land Preservation Board will open the application period for the Purchase of Agricultural Conservation Easement (PACE) Program. The application period will remain open until May 15, 2013.

The County Board administers a statewide program that assists in funding the purchase of development rights from agricultural land owners who wish to preserve their farms with an Agricultural Conservation Easement. Centre County has contributed $80,000 for the program in 2013, which has been matched with the State allocation of $525,832.

Since its inception, over 6,000 acres have been preserved through the program in Centre County, and this week the Board celebrated the placement of its 40th easement on the Deibler farm in Ferguson Township.

Applicant properties are ranked using the County’s Land Evaluation Site Assessment (LESA) Software, which scores properties based on soil quality, development potential, historic and scenic value, and other factors. Properties that rank highest on the list are selected for preservation.

Those interested in applying can learn more about the program and download the application online or can contact Sarah Parker, Ag Land Preservation Coordinator at 814-355-791.
