The Centre County Agricultural Land Preservation Board preserves 154.27 acres in Ferguson Township with an Agricultural Conservation Easement.
At the commissioner’s meeting on March 12, 2013, the Centre County Board of Commissioners recognized John I. and John R. Deibler for the preservation of their 154.27 acre farm in Ferguson Township. The Deibler Farm is the 40th permanent easement to be placed by Centre County, for a total of 6,381 acres.
The purchase of the Agricultural Conservation Easement was funded by the Pennsylvania Bureau of Farmland Preservation, the Centre County Agricultural Land Preservation Board, and Ferguson Township. State contributions are appropriated through the Agricultural Area Securities Law, PA Act 43 of 1981.
Since 1990, the Planning Office has administered the Purchase of Agricultural Conservation Easements (PACE) Program on behalf of the Centre County Agricultural Land Preservation Board, which is composed of nine members appointed by the County Commissioners.
Currently, over 60 farms are on the waiting list for the Purchase of Agricultural Conservation Easement (PACE) Program. The Centre County Agricultural Land Preservation Board will be accepting new applications from March 18 to May 15, 2013.
